Invalid License (300800) on Development Server

We have installed ChartFx 7 onto a development server.

I've simply copied over the sample application AdditionalAxes to the web server. When I access the Default.aspx page I get the Invalid License (300800) error on the chart.

Where should I be looking to diagnose this as to why the server license isn't working?

Hi,

 When Chart FX is installed, we encrypt the license  in the registry along with some machine information (mac address, machine name, Hard Drive serial, etc.)

This error means that the Server information extracted during installation does not match the one that CHartFX reads at run time. This usually happens if there was a hardware change on a server or if a machine was virtualized.

 Are you runing on a virtualization platform?Which operating system are you using?

Please try uninstalling the software from Add/Remove programs and installing it again afterwards.

Thanks. The serve is a citrix server. We are trying to get a physical server.

We have a completely virtualized front end web environment and updating our application entails updating one server and cloning that one server multiple times to create our web farm.  We have completely automated process with the exception of having to re-install ChartFX on every web server every time we update the online product, which is can sometimes be several times a week. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

 

I can't tell you how frustrating it is that you have this arcane protection scheme in your product.  This forces me to track individual licenses and repeat activations and even worse because of the unreliability of an uninstall/reinstall it forces us to have to test each server after each reinstall to verify the product works.  When multiplied by the number of front end servers production server not to mention the dev/test systems this is an enormous amount of time wasted and a huge roadblock.

 

With virtualization becoming mainstream and clearly the future, I am hoping SoftwareFX sees the light and sheds this ridiculous paranoid licensing scheme.  If people wanted to steal your product, they would find a way, all this does is make it inconvenient for those of us who legitimately have to deal with it daily.

Regarding clindsay's problems, it turns out that our firm also emplyoys virtual servers in our various development, qa and production environments.

What is ChartFx's recommended approach in these cases for installing in a virtual environment.

I have the same problem running ChartFX 7 for Production Server on a virtual machine. Is there any other solution, instead restart my server?

You are receiving this Invalid License Error Code because there is a difference between Machine Information stored in the Registry and Machine Information extracted at Runtime. You will need to reinstall Chart FX as an administrator.
