User (Legacy)
Hi, I am planning to use IIS 5 and ASP pages to develop our reporting portal. We are going to serve 20 different OLAP reports with one or two charts in each report (probably bar or pie charts 'n PNG format). Our site will have 10000 named users and probably we will have 1000 concurrent web site users at peak times. We are expecting 50 chart requests at the same time. I wonder whether you can give some information about required hardware if we use chartfx components. We have already one dedicated multidimensional database server which will serve main data for the charts. Average response time is lower than a second. But i am not sure about the graphic server. What kind of hardware required to draw 50 or 100 charts in few seconds ? thanks Ayhan
Software FX
Hello, Since there are many different variables to consider it would not be prudent for me to make any specific recommendations. More than likely you will need to set up a web farm with ChartFX installed on several machines. This sample demonstrates how you can stream an image directly to the client thus allowing for load balancing and increased security http://support.softwarefx.com/Samples/CfxIE/Internet/ImageWithoutFile.asp. I would recommend that you review our performance white paper which should highlight some important information that should prove helpful in your decision making process http://216.25.95.171/Download/CfxIE45/CFX_Perf_Scalability.pdf. Secondly you should review this article on our support web site on how to tweak ChartFX's performance http://support.softwarefx.com/kb/143/1/039.htm. Justin Trask Software FX Tech.
