how to access Chart data on client-side?

I want to access to chart data on client-side by using javascript.

I write code like this.

  <script  language="JavaScript" for="Chart1" event="MouseDown(sender, args)">

  <!--

var point = args.Point;

var series = args.Series;

var nValue = Chart1.Data.X[0,0]

alert(nValue);

  -->

  </script>

It doesn't work. javascript error. 

Plz let me know the way to access chart data.

Chart is rendered as .Net
