Unable to apply server service pack

User (Legacy)

I have tried to apply the service pack for Chart FX IE 2000 and Chart FX

Internet. The update failed to install on all machines but one. The exe-file

"CfxIESrvServicePack.exe" crashes without applying the service pack. No

error messages is given, but an event has been written to the application

log (event source=DrWatson). The service pack is vital, since we want to use

the GetHtmlDataEx method.

We are having the same problem. I ended up having support email me the

service pack. I am still having difficulty installing the sfxbar.dll piece.

Everything else seemed to install fine. To get around the problem I had

with sfxBar.dll, I completed the following.

I unregistered the old version of sfxbar.dll on our preprod server.

I copied the latest version of sfxBar.dll from our development server, which

did seemed to install fine in this environment.

I registered the new version on our preprod server.

I also had a problem trying to update the API documentation, again I just

copied the updated file from our development server to our preprod server

and the installer program recognized it as new.

Ok, so there seems to be a way around this problem. I'm sure our customers

are going to love patching Chart FX by hand. Anyway, thanks for your reply

Bill.

Your customers ? But you are talking about Chart FX Internet Server. Chart

FX Internet Server is not re-distributable. So the service pack is only to

be installed in computers that have a valid license of Chart FX IE Server.

Can you please explain your architecture ? Is a different license of Chart

FX installed on each computer ? if the answer is no, this might explain the

reason for the update program to fail.

I know that Chart FX is not re-distributable, and all our customers have

their own license. So you needn't worry about that. ;-) Chart FX is

purchased by the customers themselves and not shipped together with our

product. My concern is that patching Chart FX might cause problems for our

customers resulting in our product not functioning properly.

No, our customers have not yet tried to upgrade Chart FX. We postponed the

release until the problems with the service pack was fixed.
