daviddam
This is probably a really basic question, but here it goes.. We have a chart that we only want quarters displayed on the X-axis. If we shrink the chart "just right" the chart will automatically display quarters, but the request is that only quarters display regardless of the chart size. Is there a setting somewhere that I can set to do this? Thanks! Dave
Frank
Set: chart.AxisX.Step = new TimeSpan(90,0,0,0); // 90 days ~ 1 Quarter
daviddam
doh!, of course. Now don't I feel foolish. Actually, now that I think of it, will this actually produce quarters (Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, etc.), or just ensure that the intervals are 90 days apart based on the first point? Thanks! daviddam
I've been giving this more thought.. How would you force monthly intervals? 30 days is not accurate. Neither is 90 for quarters actually. Is there code in the chart to recognize 90 (or 30) as "special" intervals and work accordingly? Thanks! Frank
We automatically interpret 30 days as 1 month and 90 days as a quarter. Setting the interval to 1 month will put a label for every month in the data regardless of where the data start, if the data starts in the middle of a month, that month will be displayed smaller in the x-axis. The tickmarks will always be at then calendar months' boundaries. same logic for quarters.
daviddam
Awesome! That's what I was hoping you were going to say. Thanks! Dave
daviddam
Sorry to open this thread up again, but I was wondering what value to use for yearly? 360? 365? Thanks! Dave
daviddam
OK, I tried it out and found 365 looks to be the right value for anyone else that may be interested.
