The base type 'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' is not allowed for this page. The type is not registered as safe.

I downloaded and installed the trial version of Dataparts for Sharepoint 2007 about an hour ago. It broke my entire site giving the above error. I uninstalled the program and Sharepoint is still down (exact error)! What do I do?? Please respond ASAP.

Site's back up again. Read an earlier post and renamed the web.bak to web.config as suggested. This is a pretty serious bug. Has it been resloved yet? I have to make a decision whether to buy this product for my organistion fairly soon. This isn't helping. Please let me know as soon as you can what the resloution is (if any). I've already emailed support with the affected web.config file.

I would like to investigate this issue further. Could you please send an email to support [at] softwarefx.com with the web.config file that was generated after you installed the product attached? Please add Attn: Andre in the subject line.

    Hi Andre,

I emailed my web.config to tech support last Thursday as requested but have yet to receive a response. I've noticed a number of other users have had the same problem. Has this been resloved yet?

I was not able to find your support incident. Did you receive and automated confirmation from us? Did that contain an incident ID?

No, I didn't receive any incident number. I've sent the web.config file again to support@softwarefx.com

I have found your email inside our spam folder. I will analyze your config file and get back to you via email. For future reference, if you do not receive a confirmation next time you contact support, please try again from a different email address.

In case my email is sent to your spam folder again.........

Thanks for getting back to me. I reinstalled the app and replaced the web.config with the one you sent me. It appeared to install successfully and I could view the webparts from the gallery. However, I’m unable to configure any of the webparts. I keep getting a javascript error ("object expected error") for all the software FX dataparts. This is the exact error another user posted to your forum some time ago (http://community.softwarefx.com/forums/t/10294.aspx ).

Hi Andre, Any further update on this issue? If it can’t be resolved don’t worry about it. We were quite happy using Excel Services for most of our reporting needs in any case.  I was only going to purchase the product for quick status report type queries. Please let me know as soon as you can if you feel this is a dead-end we’re going down and there’s nothing else you can do.  Regards, Alex From: Fleming Alex

Hi Alex, Seems to be the same problem as before, just a different dll. Search for GridFX.WebForms and replace the dll version for the appropriate one (3243 I believe). Let me know what happens. Regards, Andre GoncalvesJunior Product Manager

Ok, we were able to figure out what the issue was. On the web.config we sent you, we specified the wrong version. Could you please check to see what version of SoftwareFX.WebForms.Base.dll file you are using? Then, do a serch for SoftwareFX.WebForms.Base (without the .dll extension) and you should find two entries. Those will have a version (Version=7.5.2500.0). Substitute that for what you currently have and it should work. If possible, please try to get back to me within the hour. The developer that has been working with us on this issue is about to leave for vacation and will not be back for a couple weeks. We could include someone else in this, but I would prefer if we had your system up and running before he left. Regards, Andre GoncalvesJunior Product Manager

Dear Alex Fleming, I have asked one of our developers to take a  look at the file you have sent us. He has found that the file was missing the following line under the SafeControl node: <SafeControl Assembly="System.Web, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" Namespace="System.Web.UI" TypeName="*" Safe="True" AllowRemoteDesigner="True" /> I have manually added that line to the right place on the file you have sent me and attached it to this email. If possible, I would like for you to try our component again, either rename and use the attached web.config or manually add the line above to the right location and report back to us. It seems our installer failed in adding that line automatically.  I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for contacting us with your issue. We find feedback from our customers to be very important since it helps us build a better product. Regards, Andre GoncalvesJunior Product Manager

Just in case my last couple of emails are ending up in your spam folder again..... I'm including the error screenshots (see below) you requested too:

    Error 1

Hi Andre, Did you have any luck diagnosing the problem from the screenshots I sent you?  As an aside, we’re finalizing some of our budget spends for the rest of the year here at the moment. As you know, in order for us to decide whether to purchase this product I really need to see it working on our server. I’ve got about 10 days maximum before the deadline of deciding whether to spend or not. After that point I’m afraid it’ll have to be a no purchase by default. Regards, Alex   From: Fleming Alex

Hi Andre, Please find attached screenshots of the bugs/errors that are occurring. Error 1 relates to adding a softwarefx webpart to the page and then clicking the “Open the tool pane” link. Error 2 relates to editing the webpart and being unable to select a data source. The data source “links” do nothing so to speak. They act like mere static text. I’m using IE 7 as my primary browser. Regards, Alex From: Andre Goncalves

Hi Alex, Here is your license extension, good for another 30 days. You will need a program called SfxLicense to install the attached license in your machine. To avoid this email being blocked, I did not attach the exe. Here is a link from where you can download it. ftp://ftp.softwarefx.com/files/temp/AndreG/SfxLicense.exe Just run the SfxLicense program with the following parameters (make sure you have both the program and the attached License.lic on the same folder). SfxLicense.exe \Load License.lic Let me know if you run into any issues.

How do I resolve this issue? Regards, Alex From: Andre Goncalves

    Dear Alex Fleming,

I have asked one of our developers to take a  look at the file you have sent us. He has found that the file was missing the following line under the SafeControl node:

    <SafeControl Assembly="System.Web, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" Namespace="System.Web.UI" TypeName="*" Safe="True" AllowRemoteDesigner="True" />

I have manually added that line to the right place on the file you have sent me and attached it to this email.

    Regards,

     Andre GoncalvesJunior Product Manager
